Paws and Claws Holistic Animal Clinic is a conceptual naturalistic veterinary clinic that focuses on natural and organic care. Its primary goal is to treat animals without using harsh chemicals or invasive procedures unless absolutely necessary. Because of the quality of their products, Paws and Claws is more expensive than the average vet.
Since Paws and Claws is a naturalistic company, I wanted the card's design to convey this approach. I used two shades of green because of its connection with nature. I use blue because it contrasts well with green and stands out against the white background. I designed the leaping dog using Adobe Illustrator.
I primarily used Adobe Illustrator to create the business card, but I later used InDesign to create print-ready layouts. Illustrate is excellent for making logos because it uses vectors, which don't lose resolution/quality when shrunk or enlarged.
This is a simple mock-up created by photoshopping the card into a photo of a hand. I added a light shadow underneath the thumb for realism.
A stack of cards mockup. To add textures, I overlay a texture image (such as leather or fur), color-match it to the base, and then lower the opacity.
This was a fun one to make. Using the soft paint tool in Photoshop, I created an artificial glare effect. I painted a bright spot on the left side of the cards and surrounded it with a shadow, giving it a semi-realistic look.
