This Silent Hill-inspired monster was created for a conceptual horror game called "Stretched Canvas."
This game takes place in a painting of an 18th-century village that has been corrupted by an unnatural yet unknowable force. One unfortunate vlogger (the player) stumbles upon this painting in an old, abandoned warehouse while trying to find cool stuff to post onto their page, "Forgotten Mysteries." When they pick up this painting, they are sucked into it and forced to fight their way out and understand what has happened to this once innocent work of art.
The Paravoid is a corrupted painting of a once beautiful model. Despite being a demented corruption, she still thinks she is the same gorgeous model she once was. She will often strut down the halls as if she is on a runway and pose in front of mirrors. The other beasts in the painted universe don't give her much attention, which fuels her with rage. One day, when she spots the human (player) wandering her universe, she gets jealous of his/her non-corrupted looks. So jealous in fact that she is completely filled with unwarranted wrath. She will try to destroy the 'competition' whenever she gets the chance. However, because of her desperate need to look like a perfect icon, she will not attack the human while others are around. Instead, she stalks them through the walls and jumps out to fight when all other beasts are gone. When she is beaten, she will scurry off into the darkness to heal and ready herself for a rematch. Eventually, near the end of the game, the player will finally corner the Paravoid and prevent her from escaping. They will defeat the beast that’s been tormenting them throughout the whole adventure once and for all.

The 3D modeling process starts with concept art! I wanted the Paravoid to look animalistic and weirdly human simultaneously. I gave it the torso of a woman, sickle-like legs, and a gaping, reptilian jaw. To add a more corrupted "twist" to fit the game's world, I made the face a dark void with a singular eye. I believe this worked well in making an already freaky design even scarier.
I drew an appropriate setting for the beast to help visualize where the Paravoid would be encountered.
Once the concept art was finalized, I created the model sheet. Since the Paravoid roamed on all fours, I had to make a top and side view to get a better idea of all the angles. The front legs were blocking its head, so I had to make a side view separate from the body.
I later made the legs less bloody and instead made it sparsely gorey so that it will look more realistic and less uniform. You'll se
Consisting of only 11.7k triangles and 6.2k vertices, the Paravoid is a low poly model appropriate for a variety of game settings.
Paravoid rigged and rendered
The Paravoid snarling with sound. This animation loops and can be used in games. In this render, I lowered the brightness and made the colors drab to fit the Paravoid's horror theme.
I was told the video was too dark on some devices, so I have a second version with slightly brighter lighting and a higher contrast. It's the same video, just easier to see.
